FRANCE v. NEW ZEALAND MATCHES UNDER DAVIS CUP CONDITIONS In response to information received bv the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association yesterday, the Management Committee has decided to accept the proposal of the Lawn Tennis Association of France (received through M. Jean Borotra, the captain of the French team to visit the Dominion) to play the match against New Zealand under Davis Cup conditions. it has been arranged to play two singles on the first day aud two singles and the double on the second dav. The New Zealand Association is endeavouring to arrange for an exhibition single to be played on the first day by the third member of the French team. Preparations are well in hand for the erection of adequate stands round the court which is being, specially prepared on the Wellington Association’s grounds at Aliramar. All seats will be open for reservation, and notification of the opening of the booking will be published in the newspapers throughout the Dominion early next week. Sub-committees have been set up to select the New Zealand team and to make the necessary arrangements for the match. Details of these will also be announced early next week. Lampe (Wanganui) in the semi-final of the men’s singles, but he won. 3—6. 6—l. 9—7. Bartleet now meets N. R. C. Wilson (Wellington), in the final. In the men’s doubles. Bartleet and Griffiths have to play Ellis and Wilson in one semi-final, and Wallace and Dickie play Lampe and Parker in tho other.
