AGONISING DEATH
MAN PINNED UNDER LORRY AND BURNED London, January 5. A horrible accident occurred at Hockliffe, Bedfordshire, where a motorlorry skidded through a hedge and down a bank. The petrol • tank exploded and set fire to the load on the lorry, consisting of six tons of phosphorous powder contained in shell cases. The driver, a man named Rivett, who was pinned down, screamed, “I’m burning alive!” While the rescuers were striving their hardest to rescue him the load exploded, injuring four people, including i> man named Wagstaffe, who was set on fire and partially blitidcij.
