CHILDREN THANKFUL

COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS’ EFFORTS APPRECIATED AN EARLY MORNING PEEP INTO STOCKING The thoughtfulness of the Wellington Commercial Travellers’ Association in providing substantial cheques for the various children’s homes never passes without some messages “full of heart and brimming o’er with thanks.” This .is what the little ones at the Levin Home (Berhaniporc) wrote:— ‘‘We would like to tell you what a wonderful Christinas we had. On Christmas Eve we decorated all the rooms, each of us trying to see who could make their room look the best. The staff decorated the breakfast table and made it look very attractive with paper caps, bon-bons, balloons and handkerchiefs. The old, ladies from the Eventide- Home came over to have a look at the rooms, and on Christmas Day we went to their Home and sang carols. “We all got a pillow-case nearly full of toys and other exciting things. We started to look at our toys at 4.30 a.m., and some of us started before that. We had an enormous Christmas pudding, which we lit, and most of us got threepence out of it. A great deal of our treats were tlnough your kindness. “We are not going away this year so we will be going picnicking instead. We had everything ready for a picnic a few days ago, only it rained, and so we could not go, but we stayed home and played dressing-up games. We hope we will have plenty of hot sunny davs for some other picnics.” The letter was signed by 29 inmates of the Home.
