LYALL BAY CARNIVAL
To-day is the last opportunity for patrons of the Lyall Bay carnival, now being held on the recreation ground, to ride on the miniature railway, to try their skill at the many side-shows, or to roar with laughter at the antics of the victim of the 'Duckem." All the attractions which were brought from Coney Park. Nelson, including the aeroplane swings, the merry-go-round ocean wave, and the camera obscura will be working, This afternoon there will bo a children s fat cv bathing costume competition a kiteflying competition, a long-hair competition. ai well as a. baby show, and in the evening a Charleston contest will be held. All the many and varied side-shows will be attracting their crowds. Among these tnav be mentioned the “Duckem. "Watermelon Sam.” roll-down, skittles, and hoop la. This grand gala will conclude tonight, and it is hoped that a substantia] amount will be raised for a children s play-area for the district. Further particulars are advertised.
