WEEK-END EXCURSION TO WANGANUI
The week-end excursion on the Wanganui River on January 14 and 15 promises to be a most enjoyable outing, and will ■■'ve city dwellers an opportunity of viewing the beauties of this famous inland waterway. Wanganui will be reached by an excursion train from Wellington after a short journey of some five hours through the beautiful Manawatu and Rangitikei country. On the. following day an excursion steamer will take the trippers foi’ a fairly extensive trip on the Wanganui River. The journey on the river will embrace such noted spots as Upokongaro, the Quarries, Potakatake or Hinango Park. I'ungarchu. and Parikino, also the historial localities of Raorikia, Aromanga, Kai-whaiki, and Tunuliaere. The trip on the river, will occupy about eicht hours, with a break for luncheon. Those to whom the appeal of the quiet river reaches . and native bush is uppermost will find an endless variety of such scenes throughout the journey.
