— ♦ — POINT JERNINGHAM ROAD PORTION BADLY HOLED That hot-mix pavement docs not spell permanent sealing is pretty generally known, but it was scarcely expected that a road not vet two years old would break up badly. Yet such is the case with the road at Point Jeiningham, which is displaying everv sign of breaking up over a distance of about 25 yards. The portion affected—which must be repaired at an early date—is the inside half of the road between the two points that divide Evans Bay from Oriental Bay. As no other part of the road is showing such deterioration it is concluded that one of two causes must have brought about this result—either a bad (or burnt) batch of hot-mix, or the extra swerving strain of the traffic in negotiating the double turn.
