I'tcsh to strong southerly winds from Cook Strait northwards, decreasing and tending easterly later; elsewhere light to moderate I variable winds. Rough seas in Cook Strait and off the East I, Coast of the North Island, elsewhere smooth to moderate. A few showers at first on the East Coast between Cape Pallisei and East Cape, otherwise fair to fine, with cool night temperatures.
