Even when the kauri is felled it sometimes make a brave effort to train a new lease of life. This characteristic was referred to at a meeting of the Auckland Institute by Mr. T. L. Lancaster, of the University College (reports the "Star”). He instanced particularly two old kauri stumps of trees at Titirangi that had been cut down over GO years ago.
