ANOTHER LEAP
BUILDING FIGURES HIGHER September building figures were more than 30 per cent, heavier than either July or August, and it is likely to be one of the biggest months of the year. During last month the City Council issued 189 building permits for work valued at £213,160. The total value of the .work authorised during July was £163,926 and during August £152,371. The September work was divided among the various districts as follows:— Citv 113,019 Melrose 41,208 Miramar 27 >292 Karori 1 7 > 77 '4 Onslow 8,420 Wadestown 5,417 The biggest increase is in the city, where July permits totalled £72,142, and August £83,415. The additional expenditure is accounted for by the permits for the erection of Mayfair Wats, the contract price for which is £31,000, the Colonial Carrying Company’s new warehouse in Victoria Street, cool stores in Cable Street for the New, Zealand Trawling and Fish Supply Co., brick shops in Adelaide Road for Mr. C. 11. Oxley, and a building in Aro Street for Wairarapa Butchers, Ltd.
