NOTICE TO MARINERS.

Reference to the coming into operation of daylight saving is made in a notice to mariners gazetted b_j tho Marino Department last night. “The use of summer time,” states tho notice, “does not. affect the use of New Zealand standard time for. tho purposes of astronomy, meteorology, or navigation, or affect tho construction of any document mentioning or referring to a point of time in connection with any of those purposes. The attention of mariners is directed to the several elements contained in the New Zealand Nautical Almanac, which are given in terms of New Zealand standard time, and the necessity for adding one hour to those times if they desire to obtain them in terms of summer time. Admiralty publications for navigational purposes will be similarly affected.”
