QUEENSLAND STRIKE

DISCUSSED BY TRADE UNION CONGRESS ATTACK ON STATE PREMIER TALK OF DISCIPLINING LABOUR POLITICIANS The Trade Union Congress at Brisbane condemned the attitude of the Queensland Premier, Mr. McCormack, in connection with the late railway strike, and decided to ask the Central Labour Executive to convene a conference for the purpose of disciplining Labour politicians. By Telegraph.—Press association. CopyrightBrisbane, October 12. The Trade Union Congress, convened to consider the attitude of the Government and the Central Labour Executive in connection with the late railway strike, resolved that Congress concentrate on securing domination on all Labour industrial and political bodies, with a view to dealing with those renegade politicians who desired the railwaymen to handle “black” goods during the strike, and with a view to taking steps to oppose all such alleged Labour representatives. A further resolution declared that the action of the Premier, Mr.. McCormack, in locking out the railwaymen, was a direct violation of a vital principle of the Labour movement, and that the Government was not worthy of the confidence of the workers. The congress also decided to ask the Central Labour Executive to convene a conference for the purpose of disciplining Labour politicians.
