HONOLULU CONFERENCE

The Chamber of Commerce of the United States will hold its fifth Western divisional meeting at Honolulu on February 8 and 9, 1928. Mr. A. H. Ford, Director of the PanPacific Union, Honolulu, has received a communication from Mr. P. Clagstone, manager of the Western Division of the Chamber of Commerce of Die United States, soliciting his co-operation to make the conference a gathering worth while. "Delegates from eleven Western States and from our territories in the Pacific will be in attendance and we are also very anxious to have with us as guests important Government officials as well as outstanding business leaders from the various other countries bordering on the Pacific,” writes Mr. Gladstone. “Mr. Paul Shoup, our Western Vice-President, is very anxious to make this meeting take on an important international character and we will, therefore, devote a large part of our time to the discussion of problems of vital importance to all the countries in the Pacific area. Mr. Shoup has sent, invitations to the Premiers of Canada, Australia and Now Zealand and they have expressed great interest in the meeting. However, yon will realise that we have a real job on our hands and can not get the desired results without enlisting the very active support of all men who are interested in solving the problems which we will have before 'is at this coining meeting. Would it be too much to ask you to enter actively into *his work of enlisting the interest of loading mon in the various countries in the Pacific area? With such assistance on your part, 1 believe we can make the meeting really worth while.
