At the afternoon call yesterday sales were reported of Bank of Australasia shares at £l4 12s. 6d„ and Wilsons Cement at 365. 9d. There was a good general demand for shares, and Government securities were active, with prices showing an upward tendency. per cent, stocks were in demand at 2s 6d., the bonds at £96 55., the o per cents, at £9B, and the 5* per cents, at £lOl. Eastbourne Borough 4} per cent, debentures, due 1934, were firm at £B9. Bank shares were steady, with buyers of Commercial Bank (ordinary) at 275. 10d., preference at £6 175., English, Scottish, and Australian Bank at £7 10s., a rise of Is. 3d., National Bank of New Zealand at £6 XBs. 3d., and Bank of New South Wales at £43 17s. 6d. Bank of New Zealand “D” shares (10s. paid) were wanted at 16s. 6d. Sellers quoted 5Ss. for Bank of New Zealand and £l4 19s. for Union Bank. Goldsbrough Mort and Co. s shares were steady at 465. 9d.
