MARTINBOROUGE NOTES

Dominion Special Service. Ideal weather conditions prevailed for the opening of the Martinborough Bowling and Tennis Clubs on Saturday. The ceremony was performed by the Hon .A. D. McLeod (Minister of Lands),, who spoke in happy vein of the clubs’ progress, aud the benefit that daylight saving would be to the sporting fraternity. The Martinborough baud gave some splendid selections during the afternoon, while dainty refreshments were provided by the ladies. Visitors were present from all parts of tlje district. Mrs. A. D. McLeod hoisted the clubs’ flag, while Mrs. Madson, wife of the president, sent down the first kitty. Croquet and tennis were started by Mesdames Todd and Boyd respectively. The manse grounds presented an animated appearance for the garden party held by the “Busy Bees’’ of the Presbyterian Church. There was a large attendance of the public, and ! risk business was done at the various stalls.
