Savill and Albion steamer Ma.hia. which left London for Australian ports on September 1, called at Cairo Town and loaded a large quantity of African maize for Auckland. The vessel ■ left Cape Town on September 24, is due at Melbourne next Tuesday, and at Auckland about November 10. to comluenco loading. THE RIBERA REPORTED. The New. Zealand Shipping Company received a wireless message yesterday from the Ribera, en route from Montreal mid Newport Nows, stating that tho vessel will arrive at Auckland on Saturday evening. She is due at Wellington about a week later. KIA ORA DUE NOON TO-DAY. Tho Shaw. Savill and Albion Company's Kia Ora is due at Wellington about noon to-day from Liverpool, via Auckland. The vessel will berth at tho Pipitea Wbarf to put out part cargo, and is to -.sail on Tuesday for Lyttelton and Dunedin, to unload tho remainder. THE ATHOLL. Mr. W. The vessel is to leave again to-night for Auckland, where she is duo on Sunday. TAHITI LEAVES SAN FRANCISCO. The Union Company report that the R.M.S. Tahiti left San Francisco yesterday for Papeete, Rarotonga, Wellington, and Sydney. She is timed to arrive here on October 24. RECORD PASSENGER LIST. When the huge White Star liner Majestic sailed from Southampton and Cherbourg for New York on August 24. she. carried 2580 passengers on board, which is claiin'ed to be the greatest number carried by any steamer, either East or WesL bound in the past four years Practically tho entire passenger list was composed' of returning American tourists, and over 800 travelled first-cliss. REDUOTION IN ATLANTIC PASSAGE RATES. Tho White Star line announces that it is protecting its interests in tho matter of rates for the higher priced accommodation on its monster ships by a readjustment to meet existing conditions. This results in the lowering of quotations from 10 per cent, to .5 per cent, on much of tho accommodation, particularly tho expensive suites and rooms with bath, hut does not affect the basic minimum for each class. The readjustment is now effective, and applies to the Majestic. Olympic, and Honeric, as well as to steamers of tho Red Har and Atlantic Transport lines.
