INVITATION FROM SOVIET
TO SEAMEN’S UNION. The New Zealand Federated Seamen’s Union has received the following: cablegram from the Transport Workers’ Union, U.S S.R , Dloscow: —"The U.S.S.R trades union celebrate the tenth anniversary of the October Revolution on November 7 next. Your representative invited to attend celebrations in Dloscow. Our union will attend to visa. Our guests will receive free railway passage on U.S.S. territory. Please cable decision and name of delegate and route. (Signed) Bystrov, chairman Central Committee U.S.S.R., Water Transport Workers’ Union” The matter was submitted to a stop work meeting of the Seamen’s Union members on Tuesday, and the following resolution was carried unanimously : — “That this meeting of members of the Federated Seamen’s Union of New Zealand thanks the Transport Workers’ Union for their invitation to attend U S.S.R. trade unions’ celebrations on the 10th anniversary of the October Revolution, but regret that time does not make it possible for our representative to be in attendance. We instruct dur executive to send them fraternal greetings, and wish them the best of success in their struggle to build up a new social order in Russia against the united capitalist forces of the world.” The above resolution lias been sent by cable to Russia.
