COUNTRY TELEGRAPH CONSTRUCTION
1 DEPARTURE FROM POLICY. A departure from the existing policy m the Post and Telegraph Department whereby all construction work in the country districts was done by officers of the Department, has been authorised by the Postijiaster-General (Hon. W. Nosworthy). The Minister stated yesterday that, whenever opportunity offered 'or the construction of new telegraph or telephone lines, he would have tenders called for the work, and later have a comparison made with similar classes of work already done by the Department.
