PROTEST AT DREDGE MACHINERY DUTY. B'v Telegraph.—Peess assoiiation Hokitika, October 5. In reference to the proposed increase In duty on gold dredging machinery, further representations are . being made by local bodies to tlib Government through the member for Westland urging that dredging machinery and plant bo on the tariff with other gold mining machinery, and that there should not be any differentiation between the two kinds of machinery which have the same object, to win gold. Tho Kumara and Greymouth local bodies are co-operating in tho representations being made through Mr. T. E. M. Seddon to the Government.
