Mrs. H. C. North, who has been oft a visit to Wellington, has returned to Stratford. Airs. H. F. O’Leary, of Wellington, is spending a holiday in Rotorua and Auckland. Airs. Wilson, of Waipukurau, is staying for the golf tournament with Airs, P. L. Sim, Palmerston North. Aliss Parkinson will return to Lower. Hutt to-day, after spending some weeks in Christchurch. Recent arrivals in Christchurch include Air. and Airs. A. R. Aleek, of , Wellington Airs. J. Al. Richardson, and Aliss F. AJ. Richardson, of Wellington, are in Christchurch. Airs. Marchbanks, of Wellington, is staving for the golf tournament with her sister, Airs. Bett, in Palmerston North. Airs Pearce and her sister, Airs. A. L. Treadwell, of Wellington, are amongst the 'visiting lady golfers in Palmerston North. Airs. Torstonson, Aliss Carter, and Miss Taylor are Aliramar delegates to the annual meeting of the Ladies’ Golf Union in Palmerston North. Aliss Tennant, matron of the Dunedin Hospital, is visiting Wellington for the conference of- the New Zealand Trained Nurses’ Association. Airs. R AlcDonald is staying with Airs. George Gerard, Fendalton, Christchurch. Her husband is an officer of H.AI.S. Dunedin. Lieutenant-Commander Aubrey Rowley and Airs. Rowley will be the guests of the Misses Sanders, Christchurch, during the visit of H.AI.S. Dunedin to Lyttelton next week. Miss M. I. Turnbull, lecturer in classics at the Otago University, has left en route to Athens, where she will study for three months in the British School of Archaeology. She expects to be away from New Zealand for about six mouths. The annual meeting of the Garden Circle of the Pioneer Club was held yesterday afternoon, when the following officers were elected:—President, Mrs. H. Fisher; secretary, Aliss E. Isaacs; vice-presidents, Mesdames J. McKenzie, R. C. Kirk, J. Myers, Law, and Roskruge; committee, Alesdamcs Rightou, Potter, W. Luke, Duncan, D N. Isaacs, and Aliss Cooper. Airs. Fisher, who presided, took the opportunity of welcoming Miss Cooper and Airs. Potter home from abroad, and referred to the help given by Aliss Cooper to the circle. They hoped to hear from her something of the beautiful gardens she bad seen while away. Airs. Fisher gave an. instructive talk on flowers for the rock garden, and illustrated the bedding out of such plants. A very hearty vote of thanks was passed to Airs. Fisher, and reference made to her long services to the circle, and also to Aliss Cooper’s. Afternoon tea concluded the meeting. . The display to-night of the Wellington Girls’ College will be of a novel and entertaining character. Lovers of graceful movements, drill and dance, should not miss an opportunity of seeing what physical training can do for the girls of the schools. The programme has been arranged by Airs. the drill instructress, and portrays Fairy Folk Tales of the Alaoris. There will be poi dancing, fairy dancing, dances of elves, rain, thunder, and lightning, Spanish dances, and of especial interest is the dance of the pirates. In addition, there will be the usual drill items, wands, cymbals, and a most effective lantern march The whole promises to be most entertaining. The costumes are said to displav a gorgeous effect of colour and brightness. The booking is heavy, so the production should be a great success Wedding at Palmerston North. A. wedding of interest to a large circle of relations and friends took place on September 21 at St. Patrick’s Church, Palmerston North, the Rev. Father Harnet officiating. The contracting parties were Janie, younger daughter of Air. and Airs. J. Cameron, of Alount Stewart, Sanson, and Rex, only son of Air. and Mrs J. AlcKelvie, of Carnarvon, Rangitikei, both families being old residents and widelv known. A cousin of the' bride, Airs'. Leslie McDonald, of Levin, played the Wedding Alarch. The bride was given away by her father, and was in a lovely dress of ivory silk georgette with delicately tinted flowers raised on the scalloped skirt, with csquin trimmings, and silver girdle and shoes. She wore the customary veil and orange blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet of white cyclamen, freesias, sweet peas, and asparagus fern. The bridesmaids were Aliss Al. AlcKelvie, sister of the bridegroom, who wore flowered georgette of lemon and blue, with bat and shoes to tone, and Aliss Eileen Price, who bad mauve flowered georgette, with gold lace trim-. tilings, with shoes the same, and hat to tone. They carried little bouquets to match their dresses. The best man was Air J. Cameron, brother of the bride, and the groomsman Air. R. Scott, cousin of the bridegroom. Airs. Cameron, mother of the bride, wore black crepe de chine with mauve trimmings, and black hat with mauve flowers. She carried a bouquet of red anemones, violets, and. asparagus fern, with streamers of mauve ribbon. Airs. AlcKelvie, mother of the bridegroom, was in brown, richly trimmed with brown satin, with furs and hat to tone with her dress. After the ceremony a reception was held, at which a large number of guests assembled. The usual toasts were honoured, and about twenty telegrams were received from all parts of the country, wishing the young couple good luck. The bride and bridegroom left for Wanganui, whence they left the next day on a tour of the North Island. The bride travelled in a pimpernel red repp coat frock, with brown bat and coat.
