"A woll-coolied goose could be called a work of art—of the culinary art,”, suggested a member of the Canterbury Rowing Club the other night when an art union for the raising of funds was mentioned (states Iho “Lyttelton Timos”). The member pointed out that if the club ran an art union permission would have to he obtained from tho Minister of Internal Affairs. As a-prize, a Christmas hamper has proved to bo very interesting,, and one of the hampers given as a prize last year had contained a well-cooked goose, two fat ducks, and two bottles of whisky. Ho believed that, ns prizes had to no works of nrt, a well-cooked gooso camo under Hint bonding. The suggestion of nn nrt union wns embodied in a recommendation to the incoming committee.
