CAR STOLEN FROM GARAGE

DOOR TAKEN OFF HINGES Dominion Special Service. Auckland,' October 3. Those who seem to make it a pastime to steal cars become mare daring each day. A particularly impudent theft was carried out. on Sunday morning, when a two-seater coupe, valued at £2OO. was stolen from the garage of Williams Rental Cars, Ltd., in Albert Street. Mr. Williams left his garage, which he securedly locked about 9.40 on Saturday night. At 1.30 yesterday morning a policeman passing the building, on his beat, noticed that one side of the two large doors. 16ft. high and 12ft. wide, had been taken off the hinges. Mr. Williams was communicated with, and arrived nt his garage at 3.30, when he discovered that the coupe had been taken. The car was evidently preferred to several other cars which were left near the front door. . The stolen coupe was the only car in the garage which had a full tank of gasoline, so perhaps thia was tho chief reason why it was taken. The task of removing the largo door from its hinges must have taken some time, for two policemen were, unable to lift tho door back into position again. Tho car has not yet been recovered.
