IMPROVEMENT NEEDED IN ORDER TO REDUCE TAXATION Adelaide, September 12. D'scu c sinsf the question of improving Australia’s credit, the Federal Attor-nev-General, the Hon. J. G. Latham, said that if it were possible to improve credit and save 1 P er 000 taxation could be reduced by £10,000,000 n vear The total amount raised in taxation bv Australia was about £77 000,000 a year, apart from payments for services rendered by the Railways, Post Office, other Departments, and the Commonwealth. The States paid £o7 - 000,000 in interest alone. Mr. Latham said that the burden must be reduced. Probablv the first business next session of the Federal Parliament will be concerning finance.
