OPOSSUM TRAPPING
GOOD MANAWATU SEASON Palmerston North, September 12. With the end of the season for trapping opossums in the Manawatu district some good catches nre being reported. Only this morning some 250 skins reached the Registrar’s office tx> be stamped. Most of these skins have been secured on the Palmerston waterworks reserve at Tiritea, which, with the State forest beyond and Waikanae, are the best districts for trapping oposturns between Wellington and Palmereton. One trapper working on the Waterworks area secured over 500 opossums this season, which is probably one of the best individual catches .made during the season in the Dominion. Quite a number of skins will come to hand in a week or two, as some are at present being dried prior to their being handed to the Registrar for stamping and for payment of the usual royalty of a shilling per skin.
