BLIND SOLDIERS AND SAILORS

COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS’ FUND. The annual meeting of the commercial travellers' and warehousemen’s blind soldiers’ and sailors’ fund trustees was held last week. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. During the year blind soldiers were assisted in some form or another to the extent of £926 Is. 5d., it was stated, and since the inception of the fund the sum of £5692 had been distributed among the blinded men and £5OO sent to St. Dunstans, where these men were being trained. The only expense in the management was the bank charge of ss. per annum, all the other expenses being met by the Commercial Travellers’ ami Warehousemen’s Associations of New Zealand. It was pointed out that, while the income during the year had been satisfactory. as the years went on calls on the fund did not decrease. More consideration even than in the past would have to be given to blind soldiers, whose dependents were also a big responsibility to the fund Only recently another exsoldier had gone totally blind as the result of war disabilities. Appreciative reference was made to the generosity or donors, and the hope was expressed that years to come would see a steady augmentation of the fund from bequests and straight-out donations. Mr. T. W. Witt was appointed chairman for the ensuing year, and Mr. R. E. Selby was reappointed Iron, secretary. It was decided to send letters of thanks to the hon. auditors. Messrs. Rowley. Gill, and Hobbs, and to the hon. solicitors. Messrs. Bell, Gully, Mackenzie, anil O’Leary, for their services in tltc past.
