It° was a £5O dancing lesson in the new American ballroom craze, Blackbottom, over the trans-Atlan ic radio telephone, and was so clear that those in the room overheard the telephone and gramophone music with which the directions were accompanied.. An American voice went on outlining successive movement, while » P . Santos Casani, the famous Charleston exponent, moved obediently over he floor, bending and straightening the knees with rhythmical precision. A the end of six minutes, or £3O \'ortn of the lesson, the pupil had mastered the intricate steps.
IMPORTANT EXTENSION (Rec. January 23, 11.5 p.m.) London, January 22. There was an important extension ot trans-Atlantic telephony to-day, t lie midland and southern counties being connected with the Eastern United States. All the calls were successful. The conversations included the prudent of Harvard University with tne vice-chancellor of Cambridge, recalling that Cambridge founded Harvard, commercial firms in London recalling he tea dumping affair in Boston Harbour, and Mr. Llovd George spoke to tne Governor of 'Massachusetts.
