TO-DAY’S ACCEPTANCES Bl’ I'ELEGEAPn.—PB-ESS ASSOCIATION. Foxton, January 21. With the extra quarter of a mile on to the iournev, Mint Leaf should be well suited, and it looks like him again running well forward. A couple of fresh horses in Sottana and Capitulation may show up. They both ran good races at the Manawatu meeting during the holidavs, Capitulation winning a similar class of event over the same distance.

On first dav’s form, Assurance looks certain to run well. He is a winner over seven furlongs, and the style in which he came through on the hrst dav and tackled Stormy was impressive. Zarisee should run well, but she Has been disappointing in her North Island efforts so far.

The minimum for to-day’s race is 71b. below that in the Anniversary Handicap the first dav, which Ring the Bell won, so that in all he will carry 1211 b. more than on the first day. It may not stop him, for he won almost without effort. Penman should again run a good race, and Rascal is capable of running a good mile. NURSERY ItANniCAI’, of 500 BOVS. Six furlongs.

The distance in the Nursery Handicap is a furlong further than on the first day, so it is good policy to look

for a seasoned youngster. Laughing Prince fills the eye as likely to run well forward, and his record is the best. Thaw finished well on flic first day and should again be in the money. Paleta has not vet been seriously tried over the distance, but he successfully settled his opponents over five furlongs during the holidays. Ti Tree is a possibility on her past form, and Otairi may show tip although he is hardly seasoned enough for six furlongs. On the whole Thaw and Laughing Prince may do best.

Cup running should have a bearing on the Racing Club’s Handicap. The three horses which finished in front of Footfall in the Cup are out of the wav, and backers may nia’«c him the favourite. However, the field is a good deal smaller than in the Cup, and the running may be entirely different. Fresco, for instance, will be ridden by H. Wiggins, as C. Eastwood will be required for Front Rank, and, ridden in behind, instead of out forcing the pace, Fresco may run particularly well. The same applies to Mask and Count Cavour. Star Stranger will have to show considerably improved form to win, but would only need to go right to have a great chaiice. Merry Day does not appeal on her Cup form, but the smaller field again mav suit her. Alloway is a good three-year-old, and is a possibility, but he mav prefer the January Handicap. Piuthair ran a fair race in the Cup, and she, also, is in the January Handicap. The distance may be quite as far as Front Rank will enjov. Well handled, Count Cavour should run very well, find Footfall and Fresco may be prominent.

'1 he Douro Cup field seems t improve in quality each year and to-day’s lot contains some first-class hacks. Stormy is set a solid task with 9.9, which is 61b. more than Kilbronsvth won with 12 months ago. Stormy should run well, but it is a good horse’s'weight. Queen’s Choice will be one of the well fancied runners and his form in the Apprentices’ Plate makes his prospects look promising. Vesperus was finishing well in the concluding event the first day and should be suited by the mile journey. Kilmezzo, Battle Colours, Gold Mint and No Favours should all go well. 'The last-named ran quite a fair race the first

day after meeting interference, and if he is coming right at last he will* be well to the fore, for he is a great galloper on the tracks. However, Vesperus, Queen’s Choice and Stormy may be doing best at the finish.

Limited will be in demand with 21b. less than he carried in the Stakes. Lady Cavendish won this race last year with 8.6, after she had been beaten in the Stakes. Limited certainly looks a great form horse, but he may' not run a second race so solidly, and what looks so good on paper may not turn out so in the actual race. Papercha.se runs very solidly, and Corn Money may again run great races. It appeared on Thursday that Corn Money would have won had he been well .drawn at the barrier. He is in the January Handicap also. Royal Damon never got a “go” on Thursday, getting away too poorly. A little more energy at the barrier by his jockey today should enable him to run a good race. He talso is engaged in the January Handicap. All the light-weights must be respected. Receipt usually runs well, but on Thursday she was never seen Royal Damon, Paperchase, and Corn Money should run well. If Receipt jumped out she would be as fast as her stable mate, Corn Monev. CAMP HANDICAP, of 300 sovs. Six furlomrs. Starboard Baby Bun .. 7 8 Light 9 1 Frivolous .. 7 4 Sagittarius .. 8 4 Some Lad .. 7 4 Lady Ideal .. 712 Theodolite ..7 0 Royal Tractor 7 8 Dark Spot -.7 0 On form, Lady Ideal should again run well, but there is stronger opposition to-day from the southerner Sagittarius, who is apparently above the ordinary. Royal Land ran an excellent race for the best part of the journey in the Apprentices’ Plate on Thursday.
