Cann, Miiiister-of Health, that the Newcastle Mospital Committee declined to give evidence before an official whom he had selected to inquire into the appointment of Mr. J. Coyle, as secretary, the president of the committee said that the board throughout welcomed inquirv and had desired it to be as public as possible, and it was no fault of the board’s that Mr. Cann’s official declared the inquirv a departmental one and excluded the Press from it. lhe committee had dispatched a telegram to Mr. Cann denving his statement, and adding that the inquiry was limited to one point, and adjourned and concluded. The committee welcomed the fullest investigation and would give every assistance.
