In keeping 'with its reputation as a thriving and progressive centre (state® the "Hawke’s Bar Tribune”), the bor- , , ough of Hastings has inaugurated a scheme which puts the town, in the mattor of shop illumination, on an equal ; footing with any other town in Austra- | lia or New Zealand. A special cable has been laid and connected to every shop which agreed to link up, and at certain ’hours the lights in these shops will be switched on and off at the power station. 1
