MURULLA RAILWAY DISASTER
TRIAL OF DRIVER AND GUARD. (Rec. December 6, 10.55 p.m.) Sydney, December 6. The trial of Ernest Turner and David Davies, driver and guard respectively of the goods train which caused the Manilla railway disaster,, on charges of manslaughter, has commenced The accused are charged, in respect of the death ot onlv one passenger, and both pleaded not guilty. In opening his address, the Crown Prosecutor referred to the estimable character and unblemished record of both the accused, and said all the iurv was asked to determine was whether the accused were guilfv of negligence in the performance of their duties, and if so whether it amounted to criminal negligence.
