WAIRARAPA LICENSING COMMITTEE

QUARTERLY SITTING. Carterton, December 6. The quarterly sitting of the Wairarapa Licensing” Committee was held at Carterton to-day, there being present: Messrs A. M. Mowlem, S.M. (chairman), S. J. Kent-Jolinstou, F. W. Smith, T. H. Hughes, and J. bauud--6 The police reports in respect to the conduct of the- licensed houses were good in some cases, and fair ill others. Transfers were granted as under: Club Hotel, Greytown, John Fay to Wilhatn John Horan; Grey town Hotel trotii Mrs. K.. Guay He to William Hugh Long. The chairman said the committee were pleased to see satisfactory police reports, and that there had been no black marks placed against licensees during the quarter. The conduct of the hotels was shown as fair, and some good. The fact had, however, been brought under the committee’s notice that the improved water supply for the Tenui Hotel, promised at the meeting had not materialised Ibe report showed that no work had been done, although the committee had been given to understand when the license was granted that the owner and licensee were arranging lor an improved water service, and the requirements would be carried out. It was upon that understanding that the license was granted The chairman said that the comniitte viewed the position seriously and when promises were given they expected them to lie kept Hie hope was expressed that 'he iomplnint would be remedied before the summer months expired, and the owner and licensee’would realise the promise made. If not the committee would bear it in mind for future reference.
