For the first time in 50 years the London Zoo has on exhibition a healthy young hippopotamus, very round and fat. and taking after his moilier. He swims about the pool with her. and spends much of his time restfully beside some hot-water pipes. At present his mother is rather suspicious of strangers who approach the infant, but that will wear off. The infant, by tho way does' not object to watered milk, for when he draws bis nutriment from what Mr. Micawber called "Nature’s founts,"
