WAIRARAPA AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION

MEETING OF CO.MMITTEE. Carterton December 4. The executive committee of the Wairarapa Automobile Association met at Greytown last night. Mr. R. W. Roydbouse presiding. The treasurer reported a credit balance in the bank of £331 Is. 7d., and in the Post Office Savings Bank of £6 16s. 7d.. after paying accounts totalling £lOl 3s. lOd. 'Twenty-two new members were elected and eleven resignations received. Tlie North Island Union asked for an opinion on camp site rules, and the matter was left to Mr. W. Howard Booth. The following resolution was received from the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, through the North Island Motor Union, nnd referred to the New Plymouth district:—“That this conference draws the attention of the Automobile Association to the careless manner in which motorists pass drovers with dogs, as many valuable dogs have been lost.’’ The Featherston County Council agreed to contribute half the cost £7 10s. of fencing at Clark’s, Riniutaka Hill. The Eketahuna County Council advised that the fence at the top of Newman Bridge cutting would be continued from the reserve to the corner, about 200 yards, at an estimated cost, £3O. It was decided to contribute half the cost. In reference to the speed limit on the Riniutaka Hill, it was decided to agree with the Wellington Automobile Association that the speed be 15 miles per hour. It was decided to write Mr I. V. Wilson, thanking him for his efforts in successfully gaining for the association a subsidy from the Main Highways Board on the cost of erection of sign posts.
