What is said to bo an angel fish was caught at the Breakwater at Wanganui a few nights ago. It has been forwarded to Wanganui to be mounted. The angel fish is defined as "a shark from six to eight feet long found on the coasts of Europe and North America. Its pectoral fins arc very largo and extend horizontally, like wings, when spread.’ The name is also applied to tlio common spadefirh, and to any of several species of compressed, bright-coloured fishes of warm seas. Exactly within which I group tile fish in question comes has not been' ascertained. The Queen has recently had all her grandchildren around her at Balmoral. As the King has been heard to remark upon several occasions, "-he is never so happy ns when she has a baby to nurse.’’ Many years ago the Queen was hailed as “the perfect mother.”
What is regarded as a record output for a single butter factory was credited by the Waharoa factory, the Flew Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, this month (states the Auckland “Star ’). This factory is believed to be the largest under one roof in the world. Its previous record for ono day’s output was 812 boxes, this figure being reached one day during the season of This total was, however, exceeded on November 16, when the total butter manufactured amounted io 83S boxes, only two boxes short of 21 tons. This butter was made and packed during one day of nine hours, no special effort having been made to reach the record. Of the 838 boxes made on this particular dav, no fewer than G6(>, or 78.7 per cent, of the total, were classed as superfine. The balance was first grade.
