FREEZING TROUBLE

BUTCHERS BEGINNING WORK CONDITIONS BACK TO NORMAL Dominion Special, Feilding, December 4. The local branch of the Freezing Workers’ Union held a meeting last night to discuss the new position of affairs arising out of the conference between representatives of the companies and the union executive. The men finally agreed that seven butchers who were offered work by the Feilding Freezing Company should accept, provisionally upon other union butchers being given jobs as they became available. On Monday work will be offered at the works to six butchers, and if they do not respond to the call other labour will be found. Ample provision has been made by the management to meet all difficulties, now that stock is coming forward more freely, and no hitch is anticipated By Telegraph press association. Masterton, December 5. Twenty-three unionist slaughtermen commenced at the Waingawa Freezing Works on Saturday morning, and volunteer butchers who wished to continue were kept on. A corresponding uuniber of labouring hands also reported for work. The management report that everything is back to normal. Hastings, December 4. The local freezing workers, acting on official instruction, will commence work oil Monday morning.
