THEFT OF TOBACCO
WHEN SHOPKEEPER’S BACK WAS TURNED. William Gordon, aged 35, pleaded guilty iu the Magistrate’s Court yesterday to stealing three pounds of tobacco from the shop of Mrs. Susan Chamberlain, at 107 Taranaki Street. Chief-Detective Ward stated that accused had taken the tobacco when Mrs. Chamberlain was at the back of the shop. Gordon had a list of 31 previous convictions against him Mr. E Page, S.M , sentenced Gordon to one months’ imprisonment with hard labour.
