ADDITIONS TO ZOO
, — BUFFALO BEING SHIPPED
The two buffalo donated by the Canadian Government to the Wellington Zoological Society are expected to reach the Dominion shortly before Christmas. The secretary of the society (Air. J. Castle) lias been advised by the Commissioner of Native Parks, Ottawa (Mr. J. B. Harkin) that the intention was to ship the animals on the Vincmoor, which was to leave Vancouver on Monday. As the vessel is proceeding to Wellington via San Francisco . and Auckland, a six or seven weeks trip is in store for the beasts, but sufficient fodder for the entire journey will bo furnished. “A -selected member of the, boat’s crew,” adds Mr. Harkin, “will be instructed in the care of the animals, and I sincerely trust they will reach their destination in good condition. I will advise yon immediately of any change in the sailing date.” The society has' under promise also an elephant from the Government of India, but no definite information has yet boon received as to when the animal ■will be shipped.
