BRAND FOR DOMINION GOODS.
Dominion Special. Christhurch, October 14. At the annual conference of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federxtian today a resolution was carried urging legislation, making it compulsory for a New Zealand brand to be clearly shown on New Zealand goods, except' in such cases where it may be impracticable owing to the nature of tho "oods. Competitive designs for a brand are to bo invited, £lO to be the first prize, and £5 the second. . . tt was agreed that when the levision of the Customs tariff is considered, representations be made to endeavour, to bring about a more rigid enforcement of the existing Dumping Act provisions. It was decided to urge the Government to put into effect as speedily as possible Sir Frank Heath’s recommendation in regard to the appointment of two experts to act in connection with scientific research for secondary industries. ,
