WELLINGTON JUDGES HAVE DIFFICULT TASK There is very little news to report to-day. The Wellington judges are still at work selecting the final twelve for this province, and it is now clear that they will not be able to complete their task in time to publish the result in next Monday’s issue. Maybe they will be through in time for Tuesday. In the South Island the final stages of the judging by votes of the public has caused tremendous interest. The voting so far appears to be very close in Christchurch and it is stated that only a few hundred votes separate the highest and lowest in the poll. Sorrowfully we have to announce that we continue to receive entries from various parts of the countryside—too late. ’ The girl from the Manawatu or surrounding districts who is fortunate enough to gain a place in the final twelve will be extremely fortunate.; In addition to the big prizes already announced, a number of gifts, have been promised by Palmerston North business firms. All the above prizes go to the candidate residing within 25 miles of the Palmerston North Post Office who gets into the first 12 and secures the highest number of votes.
