A YACHTING BREEZE

TROUBLE OVER A PROGRAMME EVANS BAY CLUB'S WITHDRAWAL Quite a breeze arose at the annual meeting of the Wellington Yacht and Motor-boat Association on Tuesday evening. as a result of a letter from the Evans Bay Club, in which it was stated that the club had decided not to join up with the association. The acting-secretary (Mr. A. G. Crawford) pointed out that possibly the trouble had bee-n caused by the fact that the Royal Port Nicholson' Club had submitted a copy of its proposed racing programme, to the Evans Bay Club so that it might be seen if the dates were convenient to the latter body. Evidently Evans Bay regarded the programme as definite. Mr. L. Waddell (Plimmerton) voiced the general view of members when he remarked that it was a great pitv that Evans Bay had ■ not sent delegates to express their opinion. Mr. Crawford pointed out that it had always been the custom, when the association was forthcoming, to_ arrange racing dates. He considered Evans Bay should have sent in their proposed programme. It was for the association to fix the dates definitely. Mr. Gendell: "The whole trouble seems to be due to a misunderstanding. Even now, it may not be too late to remedy The chairman: "The R.P.N.Y.C. the other night considered it act the programme out without delay.. ” The chairman asked for the c pinion of Hie meeting as to whether the association should run the trials. Mr. Waddell thought that consideration of the matter should be adjourned to Friday nteht, when the Evans Bnv delegates mi-’ht be present, and tins course was finally agreed upon. 1> secretary was instructed to write to Evans Bay. explaining the whole position, and asking for Pho attendance of their delegates at Friday nights meeting.
