. SHARKEY BEATS WILLS (Rcc. October 13, 9.10 p.m.) New York, October 12. At Brooklyn, Jack Sharkey, the Boston heavyweight, won on a foul in the thirteenth round from Harry Wills, the veteran negro heavyweight, and longtime contender for the world’s title. Wills was badly beaten. The fight was one-sided, the referee disqualifying Wills for hitting with the back of the hand and holding when punching. Despite the negro’s advantage in height, weight (15st. 41b.) and reach, Sharkey (13st. 61b.) outfought and outboxed him in nearly every round.
