TROYVBRN BEATS PURDY ON POINTS. By TF.uKGRAPn.— Press Association. Invercargill, September 29. A fifteen-round professional contest between Charlie Purdy and Reg. Troweru, for a purse of £2OO, resulted in a points decision for Trowern. The fight opened tamely, and at the end of the fourth round the boxers were warned bv the referee to make a fight of it. Thereafter tbe fight assumed a more serious aspect, although Purdy was disinclined tn “mix it.” Trowern was tlie aggressor practically throughout and showed superiority in the in-fight-ing. The decision was well received by a record house.
