Council’or M. F. Luckie, chairman of 'he committee; explained that the winter show committee had agreed to pay half the cost of controlline the traffic, but had repudiated the verbal contract. Councillor R. McKeen said that the show committee had approached the council for assistance in receiving n central site for the show, but if thev were going to repudiate agreements made it was a moot point whether the council should give them any consideration in the future. Councillor G. A. Troup pointed out it was the duty of the council In control any rush of traffic in the city. This had to he done on the oc-•-ion of the Race Club Ball at the “’own Hall and at big football matches. Ke could not see that thev had any right to expect any organisation to pay for the control of traffic. Councillor W. IT. Bennett: "I agree 'th Councillor Troup. The whole discussion is paltry.” The recommendation of the committee to pay the amount was agreed to.
