LADIES’ HOCKEY
DANNEVIRKE PLAYERS WELCOM ED HOME. By Tbibgbaph.— Press Association Dannevirke, September 9. The Ruahine ladies' hockey team, which divided honours with Southland in the recent championship meeting at Invercargill, was accorded a civic welcome on arrival home. The Mayor (Mr. Runciman) congratulated the team upon its success, which added lustre to its already fine reputation. He said that success would stimulate greater interest in ladies' hockey in the future, and the fact of the championship honours being shared by a North Island team should also give the game additional impetus in the North. The manager (Mr A \V Soundy), returning thanks, paid a tribute to the wonderful hospitality of the Southland residents to the visiting team.
