FULL CAR ROLLS DOWN BANK

A motet-car loaded with passengers left a slipperv part of the road at Riverhead early in rhe morning, anil crashed over a bank. In its 25-toot drop it turned over twice, ana stopped upsido down. Duly a miracle saved some of tho passengers from death. Tho car left The Wakes Estate at Rangitopuni for tho Riverhead Wharf, with members ot tho Aolea Roa Maori entertainers. In tho front scat was Mr. IT. Brady, tho driver, his daughter, Josephine, and Miss Olivo Hodge. In the rear scat were two sisters, Misses Moana and llepini Waretiui, and Miss Grace Withers Everything went well until tho car reached a slippery portion of the road. Hero thedriver had difficulty with the steering gear, and the car went over the bank. Those in the back seat were thrown clear, but the three in front were pinned underneath. 'I ho party were all badly bruised, while Miss Brady sustained severe internal Injuries, they wore attended to by a local t.octor Tho car was considerably damaged. It was saved from rolling further by a barbed wire fence. Tho accident is said to be connected with the fact that the car was unlawfully taken awav the previous night on a- “jov-riding” expedition. It is thought that the steering gear was damaged by ojy-riclers.
