HUTT GALA DAY
CREDIT BALANCE OF OVER 4560. The general committee of the Hutt Gala Dav mot on Thursday, when the Mayor (Mr. AV. T. Strand) presided. The financial statement was presented by the honorary treasurer (Mr. B. S. Knox) and was adopted ns printed. The receipts totalled 41191 9s. Ifld., and the expenditure 4682 Is., ’.saving a credit balance of 4512 Bs. 10(1. . . After some discussion it was decided to make a suitable gift to each of the three queens who had taken part in the gala instead of having a crowning ceremony, and a small committee was set up to make the necessary arrangements for a public presentation. It was decided to form a committee of five to administer the funds raised bv the gala, such committee to consist of three representatives from the Ga’a Committee nnd two representatives from the Lower Hutt Borough Council. Messrs. Gearing (sports tod’es). Chapman (municipal), and Forsyth (Western Hutt) were chosen as the representatives from the gala workers.
