SWIMMING ASSOCIATION UNINTERESTED By Teleguafii.—Press Association Christchurch, Juty b. Lack of interest in the Olympic Games ivas revealed at to-night’s meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association A letter was received from Mr. Rundle, secretary of the New Zealand Olympic Games Association, stating that the active delegates proposed to resign as a protest against the apathv of affiliated associations. Mr. W. E. D. Bishop, chairman of the Swimming Association, said that Mr. Rundle w.as quite right about the apathy of the public. When they wanted monev to send a swimmer away they bad to get it from swimmers. Mr. H Levestan, who is removing to Wellington, declined to act as the Swimming Association’s delegate ou the Olvmpic Games Association. He said lie" did not see that the sending away of performers in individual sports was of very great benefit to the country. They went to England or the Continent aud,' after competing iu the games, had a good holiday, but it did little to help New Zealand, as did the sending of. a football or cricket team. He was inclined to agree with the Prime Minister that too much time and thought, was being spent on sport in the Dominion. The chairman expressed the opinion that the Olympic Council was not much good. The only thing was that they had to have a council to keep hi touch with Olvmpic sports abroad.
