UNEMPLOYMENT
POSITION STILL ACUTE IN PALMERSTON “Dominion” Special, Palmerston North, July 8. "The demaud for employment is still acute in the whole of the district,” said the charitable aid officer in reporting to the meeting to-day of the Palmerston North Hospital Board. "A great manv men are out of work, but the Government and local bodies seem to be doing their best to employ on necessary work at least married men with dependants.” He went 011 to state that his experience had been that June was not as bad from a charitable aid point of view as was the preceding month. He had assisted 15 casuals in Palmerston North and nine in Feilding during the month, as compared with 29 at Palmerston, four at Feilding, and six at Shannon during May.
