PEDIGREE PIGS

HJGII STANDARD OF QUALITY.

“Dominion” Special. Palmerston North, June 19. Although there was a large crowd of breeders present, the bidding at the second annual sale of pedigree pigs, conducted during the Manawatu show by the New Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association, was not very spirited, and the prices realised were not up to expectations. As a direct outcome of the decision of the association to limit the number of offerings by any prospective vendor to ten, quality was uniformly present among the animals offered. However, the new rule was not attended by a correspounding rise in prices. The catalogue comprised 89 lots, the majority of which were sold. The following were ’the highest prices realised Tamwortbs.—Bowen and Wilson (Hastings), to P. Whitelock (Tiakitahuna), sow bred by vendors, 15gns.; Bowen and Wilson, to W. H.
