The United States Weather Bureau has given a new word, "smog,” to the American language. It is used to. describe a combination of smoke and fog which occurs chiefly over cities of the Central States. Smog prevails when smoke and fog unite at the» same density, tho smoke particles crystallising in a chill air, and being carried along in a fog blanket.
