A FATAL FALL
—4 An inquest was conducted bv Mr. E. Page, S.M. (Coroner), in the Magistrate’s Court vesterdav, into the death of Archibald McNaughton, a labourer, aged 45, who resided in Hankey Street, and who died in the Wellington Hospital, following his admission suffering from spinal injuries. Evidence given showed that deceased fell down a small bank on Thursday last week, while working at a job in Adamr Terrace. Fie appeared to suffer no ill effects at the time, and said he was not hurt. Two days later, however, he was found outside the premises of Thomas Masham, in Taranaki Street, lying helpless On the ground. " John McGarry, a labourer, said he was working on the same job as deceased when lie fell. the bank was oniy sft. 9in. high, and there was soft earth underneath. Andrew McNaughton, brother of deceased, said that the latter was a single man and had no dependants. The Coroner, going bv the medical evidence, found that deceased died from concussion of the spinal column, which was complicated by pneumonia, in the Wellington Public Hospital, on Sundav, ns the result of injuries probably caused bv a fall which he sustained st work on the previous Thursdajjn
